This song is first of its kind according to me. The music composition and experimentation for this song are totally new to our ears. This is an altogether new experimentation by Raaja, the legend. Just like most of other Raaja songs, this song is also dominated by strings and chords. Both the prelude as well as the interlude are totally fresh and new. I cant really classify whether its western classical, or an European type music.
Raaja has perhaps discovered a new composition since 2000. He is coming out with a different innovation of mixing flute and violin together for songs and giving a new dimension and divine effect to a song. Be it Ethilum ingu iruppan from Bharathi or Elangathu veesudhe from Pithamagan or Yedho unnai from Solla marandha kathai, he has handled such experiments by combining wind and string instruments. This gives a divine effect to the song.
This particular song Oliyile is a song which the playback singer Karthik has to mark in his chronicle.
The haunting bell sound just before the line
"koyil maniya yaaru adikkara"
The highlight of the song is the poignant chorus in the second interlude.
it certainly grows on you when u listen to it.
Certainly this song is Raaja's one of all time greats.
